How many cat litters are there in the market?

Cat litter types on the market vary in consistency, clumping ability, and odor. There are 6 main types of cat litter: Bentonite, Tofu, Crystal, Mineral, Corn, Walnut Cat Litter.

I. Bentonite Cat Litter

Clay is one of the oldest and most commonly used types of cat litter. Clay litter comes in clumping and non-caking varieties.
Clumping litter is often the first choice for many cat owners who enjoy regularly scooping urine waste out of the litter box, but others prefer the lower cost of non-clumping litter and will dump the entire cat out when necessary Contents of sand basin.
Bentonite clay is a natural material from the earth that has a soft texture that feels more natural to cats as they can dig and hide waste. It’s very effective at locking in liquid and is easy to use because you can simply remove tight clumps, saving money since you don’t need to replace the entire tray every time. Clay waste is not flushable, so simply throw away used waste with your household waste. In our tests, bentonite clay was by far the best clumping cat litter.

II. Tofu Cat Litter

Tofu cat litter may be one of the latest types of cat litter on the market, and it is rapidly becoming popular. Once you understand some of its characteristics, it is not difficult to determine the reason. It is made of soybean fiber, so it is all natural, biodegradable, non-toxic, and almost dust-free. Most brands have low trace amounts of particles that clump well, and best of all, they can flush down the toilet. However, as tofu is a plant-based material, it may be prone to mold if stored under humid conditions. Cat litter is also more expensive.

III. Crystal Cat Litter

Crystal cat litter, also known as silica cat litter, is extracted from quartz sand. Then these sand particles are mixed with oxygen and water to obtain these highly absorbent crystals. So it has super strong water absorption.
It captures the odor of urine in crystals, but allows the liquid to evaporate. Therefore, you don’t need to remove it as frequently as handling other types of garbage, and it can last for a long time.
Due to the fact that silica waste is composed of individual crystals, it is dust-free and leaves no traces. Additionally, you can choose between scented and non scented versions. There are also some bundled versions, although the quantity is not large.
But there are also some drawbacks. Firstly, silica waste is more expensive than other types of waste. Secondly, it is not biodegradable, so the only way to dispose of it is to throw it into the trash can.

IV. Mineral Cat Litter

Mineral cat litter is made of 100% natural mineral particles, made of lime and quartz sand, and is a very effective compound. Its unique performance prevents odor formation with three times the efficiency of standard non agglomerated cat litter. The surface pores quickly absorb and retain moisture like sponges. This cat litter is also very light, dust-free, and does not contain any artificial or chemical odors or additives. Perfect for your cat and very environmentally friendly.

V. Corn Cat Litter

Corn cat litter is known for its biodegradable and compostable properties, making it a popular choice for environmentally friendly cat litter.
Like clay cat litter, you can put corn cat litter in it;
 Agglomeration or non agglomeration
With or without fragrance
Low dust option

But the main problem with corn litter is mold. When corn becomes moldy, aflatoxin is produced, which can be fatal to pets. If the cat litter pot is placed in a damp environment, corn cat litter will mold, and there are some cases.

VI. Walnut Cat Litter

Walnut wood waste is an excellent alternative to clay with minimal dust. As you may have guessed, walnut waste is broken walnut shells. It has high absorption and renewability, therefore it is beneficial to the environment. Walnut cat litter is soft for cat claws and will not leave any marks in your home.
The disadvantage of walnuts is that they do not clump, which means you need to stir them frequently to ensure that the walnut shell can fully absorb urine. If the urine stays at the bottom for too long, it will start emitting an unpleasant odor. The color of walnut cat litter is often dark, which makes it difficult for us to find small gifts left by our cats to dig them out.
