How to conduct testing correctly as a purchaser so that suitable pet pads can be purchased after all your urine pads have arrived?
Firstly, the purchaser should use a pre written method to conduct multiple tests on each pad, provide 1-5 ratings for measurement, and observe and record during this process.
Each puppy urine pad is rated based on five different rating categories.
The purchaser’s evaluators will first evaluate the effectiveness of top brand training mats. For this, you can use measuring cups to distribute 3 to 6 cups of water on each mat. - Absorption Test
Most disposable puppy mats use super absorbent polymer powder sandwiched between other layers, including a pillow shaped top layer soaked in liquid like a tissue and a waterproof plastic bottom layer to
prevent liquid from penetrating the floor. When in contact with water, the polymer powder will absorb the liquid and turn it into gel, thus preventing water from splashing around or leaking to other places.
Most puppy training mats contain enough powder to absorb 3 to 5 cups of water. This is much more urine per day than most puppies. Although different veterinary sources provide slightly different standards, the expected daily urine output of dogs typically ranges from 0.4 to 0.85 ounces per pound. This means that a 10 pound puppy can only pee a little more than one cup per day at most.
2. Odor Control Test
Some puppy urine pads have a satisfactory effect in absorbing vinegar odor, but if a puppy or a dog being trained is likely to produce a stronger odor. Sometimes a urine mat with a layer of charcoal added (sometimes sold in the form of “activated carbon” or “activated carbon”), this type of urine mat is excellent in absorbing odors.
3. Spread Test
When choosing an ideal urine pad, you must consider the distance that the consumer’s dog’s urine diffuses on the pad. Diffusion refers to the distance at which wet spots spread when a dog’s urine is absorbed by the urine pad. To some extent, this will determine the frequency at which urine pads need to be replaced A small-scale urine pad will provide consumers with more water absorbing surface area for their dogs to urinate next time. On the other hand, large-span urine pads may only be suitable for one urination.
In this test, pour a cup of water onto each urine pad. Then we measure the degree of moisture diffusion after being left for 10 minutes.
4. Leak Test
Any leaking urine pad will make a mess. In each test, the purchaser needs to closely monitor each urine pad for leaks. In addition, each urine pad needs to be soaked to its maximum usable capacity and left to stand for 24 hours. You can add blue food coloring to the water, so it’s easy to detect any leaks.
When you throw a urine mat into the trash can, it may also leak. In fact, this may be the time when you least want your urine pad to leak. Any drop of water here will leave traces of dog urine in your entire home.
5. Drip Test Test
To prevent dripping, the plastic lining should be able to maintain its integrity when folded or carried vertically.
To test this, you need to saturate each urine pad again to its maximum usable capacity. Then place the urine pad vertically for 1 hour. Then you will realize that this test is a damage to many urine pads. However, most urine pads eventually begin to drip after an hour.
In terms of practical use, we believe this is a completely acceptable result. After all, it’s unlikely that walking to the trash can with a urine pad filled with urine will take more than a few minutes.
Finally, you will find that many urine pads can last for an hour. These urine pads overall outperformed their competitors in all other tests – therefore, drip testing may indicate higher quality urine pads.
